Quality Assurance & Control Specialist

We are looking for a QA/QC Specialist who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and driven to deliver results. This role is based out of our Delta, BC facility and reports to the Quality Control & Regulatory Affairs Manager. In this position, you will support Quality leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality programs across all areas of production, while providing ongoing oversight and maintenance of existing quality systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Administer Analytical Testing Program, including lab qualification, lab communication, specifications management, results interpretation, results management, results communication, out-of-specification management (including corrective & preventative action), internal testing management & validation, and sample tracking.
- Administer Internal Auditing program, including audit planning, communication, execution, reporting, and findings resolution.
- Administer cannabis receiving inspections, including oversight of inspection, corrective action, and trending & communication of results.
- Provide guidance & support for international export, including international-standards (Good Agricultural & Collection Practices [“GACP”]) audit support, GACP internal auditing, international specification testing management, international partner vendor management, international shipment permitting, and other international quality-related duties.
- Support the completion of Quality Control activities, including scheduling, completion of Quality Control duties in Quality Control Technician absence, and supervision of Quality Control Technicians (if requested by Quality Team leadership).
- Collaboratively support the design, review, and implementation Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments, Work Instructions, Preventative Control Plans, and other controlled documents.
- Prepare the site for Health Canada, GACP, and other regulatory inspections and assist in replying to audit observations / non-conformances. Participate in audits, as required.
- Support the documentation of complaint, deviation, and corrective and preventative action reports according to quality and regulatory requirements. Ensure resulting actions facilitate continuous improvement.
- Participate in quality investigations and root cause analyses.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in all aspects of operation.
- Administer various aspects of the Quality Management, Records Management, & ERP Systems.
- Assist with operational activities, as required.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by Quality Team leadership.
Requirements:
- 2-10 years of experience in a quality or regulatory position within the cannabis, laboratory, food, pharmaceutical, or natural health product industries
- Demonstrated knowledge of analytical lab testing through education or experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education & experience relating to quality assurance.
- Knowledge of cannabis and cannabis quality metrics is considered an asset.
- Experience in an GMP, GPP, GACP, ISO: 9001, ISO: 13485, and/or ISO: 17025 environments is considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proven analytical & creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven track record of success in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required.
- Knowledge of Cannabis Regulations is an asset.
- Health Canada Security Clearance is an asset.
